For the people who keep the servers running

Forty servers. One screen. No pile of windows.

PluggedDesk keeps every computer you look after in one tree and opens them in tabs that you can split, pin and move to another window.

An illustration of the PluggedDesk window. On the left, the Explorer lists folders, computers and connections. On the right, two remote sessions are open side by side, each in its own group of tabs, with a toolbar under each session that shows its state, resolution and scale.

What changes when the client is a workbench

You stop hunting for windows. Every session is a tab. Put the domain controller beside the file server, keep the build machine in a window on the second monitor, and pin the three computers you open every morning.

You set a rule once. Settings belong to folders as well as to connections. Make certificates: strict a rule of the folder, and every computer in it follows. The properties pane shows where each value comes from.

You see what you asked for. Resolution, fit and scale are three settings with three names. Ask for 1920 × 1080 and you get 1920 × 1080, at 100%, whatever your own screen is set to.

What it will not do behind your back

  • It will not remember a password unless you tick the box, each time.
  • It will not offer your drives, printers or clipboard files to a remote computer unless you switch them on.
  • It will not accept a certificate it cannot verify, unless you said so for that connection.
  • It will not install an update that the release key has not signed, wherever the update came from.
  • It will not tell anybody what you connect to. There is no usage tracking in it.

Where it is today

PluggedDesk is in early access. It runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and speaks Remote Desktop (RDP). It does not run on macOS or Linux yet. The features page lists every feature with its state, the unfinished ones included.
