Every remote desktop, one workbench

PluggedDesk keeps the computers you look after in one tree and opens them in tabs you can split, pin and move to another window, the way your editor does. It starts locked down, and it tells you exactly what it is doing.

Why PluggedDesk

Built for the person with forty servers and one screen

A remote desktop client opens a window. A workbench keeps your whole estate within reach, remembers how you like each computer shown, and gets out of the way.

A workbench, not a pile of windows

Sessions open in tabs. Split a group to the right or below, pin what you always need, drag a tab to another group, or move a session into its own window on a second monitor.

Your estate, in order

Folders, computers and connections in one tree, with favourites, recents and a search that finds anything in a keystroke. Settings are inherited, so you set a rule once for a whole folder.

Locked down from the first run

Network Level Authentication on, certificates checked strictly, every redirection off until you turn it on. There is no switch that ignores certificate errors, because nobody should need one.

Tabs and groups

Tabs that behave the way your editor taught you

Right-click any tab. Close it, close the others, close everything to its right. Pin it so that it stays first and stays open. Split it to the side and keep watching one server while you work on another.

  • Split right, left, up or down, and drag tabs between groups and windows
  • Move a session into a new window, or open a second view of it there
  • The layout is remembered: open PluggedDesk tomorrow and it is as you left it

How tabs and groups work

Display

Three settings, three names, no guessing

Resolution is the size of the remote desktop. Fit is how that desktop sits in your tab. Scale is how large the remote computer draws its own text. PluggedDesk never calls one of them by another's name, and you can change each of them while the session is running.

  • Set an exact resolution, or let the desktop follow the tab
  • Scale stays at 100% up to 1920 × 1080, whatever your own screen is set to
  • When a server cannot resize a running session, PluggedDesk says so and offers to reconnect at the size you asked for
Updates

An update is trusted because it is signed, not because of where it came from

Every release carries a manifest signed with the PluggedDesk release key. The application checks that signature against a key compiled into it, then checks the installer's size and SHA-256 against the signed manifest. A server, a mirror or a network in between can refuse you an update. None of them can hand you a forged one.

  • Only a newer version is ever offered: an old release cannot be replayed to take you backwards
  • Nothing downloads until you agree, and you can skip a version

The update channel in detail

Day to day

The small things you do a hundred times a day

A clipboard that carries work

Text, images and files cross in both directions. Files can be refused while text and images still pass.

Credentials in the vault

Asked for once, remembered only when you say so, and then kept in Windows Credential Manager.

Find anything

Ctrl K searches folders, computers and connections, and opens what you pick.

Bring what you have

Import your .rdp files. Saved passwords inside them are dropped, and you are told how many.

Getting started

From a license key to a first session

  1. Sign in

With your Exprezoe account, or with a license key you were given.

  2. Download and verify

Download the installer and check its SHA-256 against the one shown.

  3. Activate

Enter the key in PluggedDesk once. The installation takes one seat, which you can give back at any time.

  4. Build your workspace

Add folders and computers, or import your .rdp files, and connect.

Questions

Asked before you have to ask

What is PluggedDesk?

A desktop application for people who look after many computers. It keeps your computers and connections in one tree, opens remote sessions in tabs that you can split, pin and move to other windows, and starts from secure defaults.

Which protocols does it speak?

Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) today, through the FreeRDP engine, which runs in its own process beside the application. Sessions through PluggedHub are being built and are not part of a release yet.

Does it run on macOS or Linux?

Not yet. PluggedDesk is built on a cross-platform toolkit, but only the Windows build exists and has been tested. We will say so here when that changes, and not before.

Where are my passwords kept?

In Windows Credential Manager, and only when you tick Remember. Otherwise a password lives for one connection attempt and is wiped afterwards. Passwords are never written to the workspace file and never passed on a command line.

How do updates reach me?

PluggedDesk checks the update channel, verifies the release's signature against a key built into the application, downloads the installer when you agree, and checks its size and SHA-256 before running it. It never installs an older version.

How do I get a license?

PluggedDesk is in early access. Request access with the form on this site; a license key is issued to you by a person at Exprezoe.
